Dylan was first built in 1986. The locomotive was built by Roger Greatrex and Bob Bullock, Roger building the chassis of the locomotive and Bob building the body. It was originally in a light blue livery.

The engine was repainted red by Bob Bullock in the 1990s and named 'Dylan'. It was overhauled in the 2006 winter season.
